Engineering Delivery Manager

At ALTEN , we support some of the UK's most complex and critical defence programmes, helping deliver advanced technologies across land, sea, and air domains. We are looking for experienced Project Engineering Delivery Leads to join our growing defence teams, supporting the delivery of complex engineering work packages across major defence programmes. This role is ideal for candidates with a background in Systems, Software, Hardware, Electronics, or Project Engineering who have moved into engineering leadership and delivery-focused positions.

Location: Belfast On-site Requirement: 4 days per week onsite Seniority: Mid-Senior Level (7+ years' experience) Security Clearance: Candidates must be willing and eligible to obtain SC clearance. Key Responsibilities & Experience Lead the delivery of engineering work packages , ensuring activities are completed to agreed cost, schedule, and quality targets . Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams and stakeholders, driving progress, managing dependencies, actions, and delivery risks , and providing regular performance updates.

Monitor project schedules, resource allocation, budgets, and delivery performance , working closely with project management, project controls, and engineering leadership teams. Identify, manage, and mitigate risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring effective engineering governance and successful programme delivery. Support bid, change, and growth activities , including estimating, planning, solution development, and stakeholder engagement.

Required Skills Engineering project, delivery, or work package management experience within a complex technical environment. Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource management . Experience managing cross-functional engineering teams and engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Knowledge of risk and opportunity management , delivery governance, and performance reporting.

Ability to coordinate activities across the full engineering lifecycle and drive delivery to committed milestones. Experience working within Defence, Aerospace, Naval, Security, or other highly regulated sectors . Soft Skills & Collaboration Strong leadership and organisational skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities. Ability to influence and coordinate teams without direct line management responsibility.
