About this role

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic Requirements AND Minimum Qualification requirements as listed below. BASIC REQUIREMENTS: A. Degree: Bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited institution that included a major field of study in economics that included at least 21 semester hours or 31.5 quarter hours in economics AND 3 semester hours or 4.5 quarter hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus. OR B.

Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Evaluation of Experience Examples of qualifying experience include: individual economic research assignments requiring planning, information assembly, analysis and evaluation, conclusions and report preparation; supervisory or project coordination assignments involving a staff of professional economists, and requiring the evaluation and interpretation of economic information; or teaching assignments in a college or university that included both class instruction in economics subjects and one of the following (1) personal research that produced evidence of results, (2) direction of graduate theses in economics, or (3) service as a consultant or advisor on technical economics problems.

IN ADDITION TO MEETING THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS ABOVE, YOU MUST ALSO MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: You qualify at the GS-13 grade level, if you have: EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level (or equivalent) performing all the following duties: Conducting independent economic research and analysis projects such as economic impact studies and cost benefit analyses; Analyzing methodological problems and planning the basis for the acquisition and interpretation of economic data; Planning and preparing quantitative and qualitative analysis; and Making authoritative recommendations on Division policies that provide guidance, information, and technical expertise to senior leadership on policy initiatives pertaining to economic analysis.

You qualify at the GS-14 grade level, if you have: EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level (or equivalent) performing all the following duties: Conducting independent economic research and analysis projects such as economic impact studies and cost benefit analyses, including development of decision support tools; Analyzing methodological problems and planning the basis for the acquisition and interpretation of economic data; Defining analytic requirements, scoping and planning of quantitative and qualitative analysis including methods selection decisions (e.g., econometric analysis, pricing and market analysis, multiplier models, uncertainty and risk analysis, statistics, etc.); and Making authoritative recommendations on Division policies that provide guidance, information, and technical expertise to senior leadership on policy initiatives pertaining to economic analysis.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
