About this role
Join Syngenta’s Engineering team at Huddersfield Manufacturing Centre and help keep a large, technically complex manufacturing site safe, reliable and efficient. This is a varied, hands-on EC&I role where no two days are the same: from planned maintenance and calibration to fault-finding, plant improvements and critical breakdown support. You will work with modern and legacy equipment, building broad technical capability while making a visible difference to plant performance and safety.
You will join a proactive, collaborative and supportive team that takes pride in delivering high-quality work, safely and on time. Job description As a Control & Electrical Engineering Technician, you will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and provide essential engineering support across the site. You will plan, prioritise and deliver maintenance activities using SAP, working closely with Operations, asset teams, Plant Maintenance Engineering and in-house contractors to minimise downtime and improve reliability.
You will be trusted to work independently within robust Safe Systems of Work, while contributing to a team focused on Operational Excellence, continuous improvement and safe plant operation. The role is site-based in Huddersfield, normally working 07:50–15:30, with overtime and occasional extended hours in line with operational requirements. Key responsibilities include: Deliver planned, preventative, routine and breakdown maintenance, inspection and testing on control, instrumentation and electrical equipment.
Diagnose faults, calibrate and maintain instruments, and identify practical first-line solutions to eliminate recurring defects. Interpret schematics, manufacturers’ drawings, manuals, standards and codes to support effective testing, maintenance and installation activities. Support plant reliability, modification, hazard analysis and improvement projects in partnership with engineers and operational teams. Maintain accurate records in SAP/CMMS, develop engineering guides and check sheets, and coordinate work safely and efficiently with colleagues and contractors.
