About this role

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. Specialized Experience: For the GS-09 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes: Evaluating residential or commercial building inspection plans and documents involving different construction materials or methods; AND Assisting in gathering information for property inspections; AND Assisting in documenting inspection findings to support the drafting of inspection reports.

OR Education: Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree; or two (2) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree; or L.L.B or J.D., if related, that provided the knowledge skills, and abilities necessary to perform this work. Graduate work must be in one of the following major fields of study: architecture, engineering, building construction, or other fields related to the position to be filled.

Note: You must submit a copy of your college transcript (official or unofficial) to support your claim. OR Combination: A combination of specialized experience (less than one year) and graduate education (beyond one year of graduate education), that when combined equals 100% of the qualification requirement. Note: Only graduate education in excess of one year (generally 18 semester hours) may be used in this calculation.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-12 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes: Evaluating residential or commercial building inspection plans and documents involving different construction materials or methods; AND Applying established standards to evaluate the physical condition of structures and recommend improvements; AND Reviewing property inspection reports for existing properties.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-13 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes: Evaluating residential or commercial building inspection plans and documents involving different construction materials or methods; AND Inspecting, reviewing, and ensuring assets meet the proposed development specifications; AND Interpreting statutory and regulatory requirements related to building requirements; AND Preparing and reviewing property inspection reports for existing properties.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume. Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-09 you must have been at the GS-07 level for 52 weeks.

For the GS-11 you must have been at the GS-09 level for 52 weeks. For the GS-12 you must have been at the GS-11 level for 52 weeks. For the GS-13 you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks. Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
