Communications Coordinator
About this role
Are you an experienced communications coordinator, skilled in comms planning, content writing/asset production and delivery? The lung-health-focused European Respiratory Society (ERS) is looking for a new member of their small but very productive comms team. This permanent role offers hybrid working (between home and a Sheffield based office) and some flexibility with working hours. Though the immediate team is Sheffield based, this role requires day to day interactions with colleagues based at our offices in Lausanne (Switzerland) and Brussels (Belgium), plus respiratory-focused professionals dispersed globally.
Who we are ERS is a professional membership organisation serving the respiratory community - we bring together clinicians, researchers, and allied healthcare professionals (our members) and patients together for a common goal. Our mission is to promote lung health and alleviate suffering from respiratory disease. We have over 35,000 members globally from more than 160 countries, and more than 100 partnerships with medical societies worldwide.
Our work is spread over three key pillars: science (supporting the scientific community and scientific excellence), education (we offer high-quality educational courses, training and resources) and advocacy (we use scientific evidence to advocate for policies which support better respiratory health outcomes). The scope of the role As a communications coordinator within ERS you will have an opportunity to work on projects across a wide spectrum, including, but not exclusive to: long term campaigns linked to influencing lung health policy, such as tobacco and air quality; supporting the delivery of major conferences and smaller events; initiatives to enhance scientific research; promotion of products, services and resources.
The suitable candidate MUST have direct experience of delivering a project in full: liaising with colleagues and project leads, assessing needs, communications planning, content writing/production and delivery across multiple channels, using platforms including social media and content management and mailing systems etc. Audiences The primary audience of our communications are most often respiratory professionals (researchers, clinicians, allied healthcare); however, particularly in relation to advocacy-based work, we do target policymakers, the news media and the general public.
