Charity Manager – Fundraising & Development
About this role
Working closely with Nottingham’s Paediatric Critical Care Unit at Queen’s Medical Centre, we support children and families through hospital support, our Comfort Fund, HJT Wishes and specialist equipment grants. We are looking for a hands-on Charity Manager to lead our next stage of development: strengthening how we operate and generating the income that will allow us to help more families. The opportunity Our average annual income is approximately £50,000.
Our ambition is to grow this to at least £100,000 a year within 18–24 months, building a more reliable and diverse funding base. You will lead that growth plan, personally developing corporate partnerships, securing trust and foundation funding, and building donor relationships. You will also coordinate the charity’s day-to-day work, support volunteers, maintain our hospital relationships and provide clear reporting to trustees.
You will work with our part-time fundraiser, whose role focuses on events, community fundraising and supporter care. This is an opportunity to take meaningful responsibility in a small charity where you can see the connection between your work and the support families receive. What you will bring You will have a track record of securing charitable income and experience of managing a small charity, team or substantial programme.
You will be comfortable developing a plan, approaching a potential supporter, writing a funding application and following through on practical details. We are particularly interested in evidence that you have: Generated new income through grants, corporate partnerships or donor development. Managed budgets and worked towards measurable objectives. Built lasting relationships with supporters and delivery partners. Organised staff or volunteers and worked effectively with trustees or senior leaders.
Achieved results with limited resources. Experience in children’s, family or health charities would be useful, but is not essential. Your working environment The charity operates from shared business premises in Whatton, Nottinghamshire. You will work alongside a team supporting several businesses, including Footsteps to Futures Ltd, while focusing on The Harley Jae Trust’s charitable work and reporting to its trustees.
