About this role
We're looking for a Senior Manager R&D, Apparel to lead our Apparel Development and Patternmaking teams! Your Mission You will manage the Apparel Development and Patternmaking teams across the full Salomon Apparel range (Snow, Trail, Run, Outdoor, Lifestyle, LogoWear, S/Lab, Advanced Development). You will co-define and steer the strategic actions related to product creation — anticipation and technology — in line with the Apparel BU objectives, and define and drive the operational actions covering development, industrialization and technology to deliver on those objectives.
Key Responsibilities R&D Project Leadership Oversee all Apparel R&D projects for the Development and Patternmaking teams, including complex developments (uncertainty, financial risk, tight planning, disruption, cross-functionality) on cost, performance and lead-time, from project scoping through to start of series. Lead and drive corrective action plans through to product qualification. Manage the collaboration with Industrialization teams, factories and suppliers.
Innovation & Product Strategy Contribute to building the Advanced Development / Innovation roadmap and actively participate in relevant projects, ensuring the handover of innovation technologies into the range. Drive the materialization of ideas through mock-ups or prototypes that meet the brief, coordinating with the Proto Center. Contribute to building the strategic product transformation plan with a 3-5 year vision, and drive continuous improvement of systems in collaboration with all relevant departments.
Budget & IP Define development budgets according to projects, expenses and investments, and ensure their follow-up. Anticipate and identify the key elements needed to secure legal protection of products. Team Management Set direction for the team, facilitate the setting of individual objectives, create the conditions for success, ensure regular feedback, and drive team engagement and development to help them meet both their own and the business objectives.
Responsible Purchasing Practices (FLA) Uphold the Fair Labor Association's Workplace Code of Conduct and the Fair Labor and Responsible Sourcing principles throughout the supply chain by: Working closely with the Salomon Global Sustainability team on the implementation of, and compliance with, responsible purchasing principles. Working closely with the Group Sourcing Vendor Sustainability team during quarterly business reviews and training/capacity-building sessions (at least once a year).
