As a financial institution moving billions of pounds of customer money in more than 70 countries, Wise must have bulletproof financials. We are now looking for a Cash Controller to join our Finance Team in London. This role is a unique opportunity to have an impact on Wise’s mission by ensuring timely and accurate financial data as well as building mature processes and a scalable control environment. A bit about the role: As a Cash Controller you will be supporting the Balance Sheet Controller overseeing Wise’s financials, ensuring that Wise’s Cash balances across entities are controlled and reported accurately.
Specific responsibilities include: Execute month end controls for cash balances across regions and entities ensuring balances are recorded accurately based on cut-off policies; Support the Balance Sheet controller in developing a robust substantiation program for cash balances with particular emphasis on financial statement assertions; Conduct periodic reviews of bank integrations ensuring adherence to policies, escalate exceptions to engineering teams so the root cause can be identified and fixed at source; Work closely with our first line BAAM controlling teams to provide guidance and support during bank account setup ensuring relevant reference data is captured and recorded appropriately; Develop a good understanding of bank account integrations to support external audit walkthroughs and documentation and acting as a first point of contact for Cash related questions; Create and maintain "end-to-end" documentation of how various transactions impact both Corporate and Customer Cash incorporating risk and controls; Identify missing or insufficient processes and take initiative to find solutions, in collaboration with other teams; Participate in team planning cycles and raise key items to remediate to make cash controlling more robust and secure; Build strong working relationships with the wider Finance Tribe.
About you: Practice – You have solid experience in Financial Accounting or Controlling. Prior experience in a fast-paced international environment or FinTech is a plus. You have a track record of improving existing processes and the resilience to navigate the challenges of a growing business. Theory – You possess a good understanding of core accounting principles (IFRS and/or US GAAP). Ownership – You are a self-starter who takes responsibility for your assigned area end-to-end.
