About this role

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the Specialized Experience as described below. Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to or higher than the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.

To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: (1) Formulating and executing an assigned portion of an organizational budget, including developing spend plans and monitoring obligations and expenditures against allotments, in order to ensure funds are used in compliance with fiscal law and support programmatic decision-making; (2) Analyzing budget execution data to identify variances, trends, or funding shortfalls, in order to recommend corrective actions or reallocation of resources to program managers; (3) Administering one or more business operations support functions - such as human capital actions, logistics, property/space management, travel, records management, training coordination, or workplace safety programs - by developing internal procedures and monitoring compliance with governing regulations, in order to ensure efficient and compliant support of organizational program operations; and (4) Compiling and analyzing budget and financial data using automated financial management systems or spreadsheet/database applications, and presenting findings to program managers or senior leadership through written reports, briefings, or dashboards, in order to inform resource allocation decisions and monitor fiscal status.

*Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

No prior federal service is required. Experience in the private sector, military, non-profits, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) can be credited towards meeting the specialized experience requirements. Specialized experience must meet 52 weeks equivalent to the next lower grade level. A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.

Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
