Budget Analyst
About this role

To qualify for this position at the GS-12 grade level applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience preparing, reviewing, and editing agency and office budget submissions for reasonableness, accuracy, and conformance with procedures and guidelines; Experience preparing recurring reports and analyses related to financial management issues, such as the status of funds and obligations; and Experience identifying potential budgetary issues, recommending solutions, and suggesting improvements to budgetary processes, policies, and procedures.
To qualify for this position at the GS-13 grade level applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience analyzing the impact of new or proposed legislation and recommending reprogramming and adjustments to work plans for changes in funding levels and program requirements; Experience resolving difficult and complex budgetary problems, developing alternative solutions, and recommending changes to agency budget policies or legislation affecting program funding; and Experience maintaining complex databases and budget tracking systems, extrapolating information from automated financial management systems, and preparing substantive reports.
