About this role

Applicants must possess: A first professional law degree (LL.B. or J.D.) - (Must submit a copy of your transcripts with the degree conferred date, failure to do will result in an incomplete application.); and Active membership in the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia, with authority to engage in the active practice of law. For applicants selected from outside a current DoD civilian attorney position, bar status must be verified by an official current certificate from the licensing jurisdiction or through clear online verification from the licensing authority AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify at the GS-15 level, applicants must have: Professional legal experience in excess of 3 years that is commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of the position; and Demonstrated ability to perform with substantial independence on the most complex or difficult legal matters.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
