AIR OPERATIONS SPECIALIST
About this role
In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Administrative and Management Positions, Transportation Operations Series 2150 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes experience in maintaining, retailing, purchasing, or procurement of automotive, rail, air, bus, or other transportation equipment or services, or in the operation of a commercial transportation facility or terminal.
This experience must have demonstrated knowledge of fleet operations; familiarity with Federal, State, and municipal regulations governing the use of transportation vehicles; the maintenance of inventories and cost computations; practical knowledge of the functions, processes, and principles of management as they apply to aircraft operations, aircraft scheduling and documentation, aircrew training and the efficient use of personnel and resources in order to effectively and efficiently allocate 375 AW assets to Tanker Airlift Control Center and local training requirements; an understanding of the C-21 aircraft capabilities and limitations to include; range, fuel requirements, configuration, crew duty day, and crew rest and ground times.
Utilizes different mission planning computer systems and has the knowledge to quickly navigate and update these programs; and working knowledge of worldwide diplomatic clearance requirements for overflight and landings, International Civil Aviation rules as well as DOD and AF regulations to safely and effectively mission plan aircraft travel throughout the world. OR EDUCATION: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B.
or J.D., with a major study in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, nautical science, marine affairs, marine engineering, marine transportation, or other fields related to the position.
