AIR OPERATIONS SPECIALIST

Conditions of Employment Continued: This position is designated as a key position IAW AFI 36-507. Duties of this position are essential to the accomplishment of wartime/contingency operations. Incumbents of key positions must be removed from their military recall status if alternative for filling of the position during and emergency are not available. This is a shift work position (24/7). During contingency operations and, as required by the supervisor, incumbent may be required to work extended/non-standard hours.
Workload will require weekends, holidays, and nights. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Transportation Operations Series 2150. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems.
Examples of specialized experience includes: experience in maintaining, retailing, purchasing, or procurement of automotive, rail, air, bus, or other transportation equipment or services, or in the operation of a commercial transportation facility or terminal. This experience must have demonstrated knowledge of fleet operations; familiarity with Federal, State, and municipal regulations governing the use of transportation vehicles; and the maintenance of inventories and cost computations; Mastery knowledge of air operations and transportation concepts, principles, and methodology applicable to DoD transportation systems; Knowledge of organizational missions, objectives, and procedures of the services and the relationships with their support requirements of other areas such as logistics, aeromedical evacuation, Global Strike etc., and the regulatory framework in which they operate.
Knowledge of PACAF command and control operations to include en route locations. Extensive knowledge of logistics system capabilities and limitations include how airlift and air refueling operations, platforms, and capabilities impact these systems as provided by DoD transportation and affiliated civilian agencies. Knowledge of aircraft performance capabilities and limitations to include range, fuel requirements, configuration, loading, takeoff data and weight restrictions.
