ACCOUNTANT (STAFF)

This position is being filled under DoD Modified Direct-Hire Auth (Certain DoD Personnel), PL 118-31, Sec 1250B(i)(2), 12/22/2023 You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service: Applying principles, concepts and practices of professional accounting standards and criteria established by the Treasury Financial Manual (TFM), Chief Financial Officers' (CFO) Act, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), Generally Accepted Government Auditing System (GAGAS), Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circulars, Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB), Government Accountability Office (GAO), Federal Financial Improvement Act (FFMIA), and other laws and regulations; Recognizing accounting and financial management systems and concepts to ensure compliance with TFM and Standard Financial Information Structure (SFIS) compliance; Identifying fiscal law to asses the effectiveness of internal controls in systems and reports, and conduct process improvement reviews and audits; Recognizing accounting systems to properly conduct periodic audits.
(Experience must be documented on the resume) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. In addition to meeting qualifications, your application package must reflect the applicable experience to meet the Individual Occupational Requirements for the 0510 series. Degree: accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting.
The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. (The term "accounting" means "accounting and/or auditing" in this standard. Similarly, "accountant" should be interpreted, generally, as "accountant and/or auditor.") OR Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge.
