4767 - Senior Manager - Strategic Finance
About this role
About the Role We're hiring an Sr. Manager to be the senior voice in the room for Finance Business Partnering — the person functional leaders turn to when a budget number, a headcount ask, or a business case needs a real answer, not just a report. This is not an execution role. We already have operational coverage; what's missing is someone with the judgment to independently run a leadership conversation, push back on a weak assumption, and turn analysis into a recommendation the CFO or a functional VP will actually act on.
You'll manage one Manager, partner directly with R&D, GTM, Customer Success, and G&A leadership, and work closely with the Director – Strategic Finance on budget cycles, strategic deep-dives, and leadership-facing analysis. This is the clearest growth path in the team into a future Director-level seat. A Day in the Life Finance Business Partnering - Embedded partnership with R&D, GTM, Customer Success, and G&A — budget discussions, headcount planning, spend optimization, resource allocation - Own business cases and project economics for new initiatives, and defend them in front of functional and finance leadership - Independently run recurring budget and performance conversations with functional heads — not just prepare the materials for someone else to present Strategic & Analytical Judgment - Unit economics and profitability analysis to support initiative evaluation and ROI decisions - Translate variance and performance data into a point of view, not just a readout - Flag risks and challenge assumptions proactively, before they reach the Director or CFO Team Leadership - Manage the Manager – Business Finance: set priorities, review output quality, and coach them toward handling more senior conversations independently - Act as the quality bar between operational output and what's fit to put in front of leadership Cross-Coverage - Stay close enough to MIS, performance reporting, and forecasting to step in during close or budget-season crunch — this role is expected to flex across both pillars, not stay siloed in business partnering Requirements - 6–8 years in FP&A, Strategic Finance, or business partnering roles, ideally in SaaS or high-growth tech - CA- 1st Attempt / CFA / MBA (Finance) or equivalent (Tier 1) - Demonstrated ability to run a budget, headcount, or spend conversation directly with a functional leader and hold your ground on the numbers - Some people-management experience, or clear readiness to manage and develop a direct report - Strong modeling and analytical skills; comfort working with AI/automation tools for first-pass analysis so your time goes to judgment, not production - Calm, direct communication style — able to deliver an unwelcome number without softening the substance Why This Role This is the seat built for someone who's outgrown pure execution but hasn't yet had the platform to lead leadership conversations independently.
